There are many famous characters. “Kureyon-Shinchan” , “Doraemon”, “Sailor Moon”, “Dragon ball” , “Pokemon” et cetera. These animations are broadcasted, and there are also countries that telecast every night. In France, there are excited fan like turn to completely animation characters.
“Do-mo kun” became famous because of rumor and internet before it broadcasted in there. That is a symbolic of NHK that is a TV station.
Japanese tend to make a character in order to popularize. "Pekochan" symbolizes a sweetshop “Fujiya”, “Hikonyan” symbolizes castle of Hikone. They are very famous in Japan.
